Reflexive Verbs

Reflexive verbs express action that the subject is performing of him/herself. A verb is only reflexive when the action being done to the same person who is doing the action. To show this action, a reflexive verb is put together with a reflexive pronoun. The reflexive pronoun must agree with the subject of the sentence. The chart of these pronouns are to the left.

When using reflexive verbs with body parts use definite articles (lo los la las) in front of the body parts, not possesive adjectives.
The reflexive pronoun can go:
- Before a conjugated verb. (Te peinas el pelo)
- Attaches after an infinitive. (Necesitas peinarte el pelo)
- Attached to end of affirmative command. (1,2,3 paching) (!Péinate el pelo!)
- Before a negative command. (No te afeites el pelo)
